Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Arabic Language programme is delivered entirely in Arabic and is designed to preserve the authenticity of Arabic texts while enhancing students’ understanding of the language and its literary heritage across different historical eras. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in linguistic theory, Arabic literature, and critical analysis, equipping students with the skills needed for academic and professional success. The programme aims to develop graduates with a well-rounded character – intellectually, emotionally, and socially – who are capable of engaging in constructive dialogue and contributing positively to society and humanitarian service.

Programme Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe advance and comprehensive theoretical knowledge and demonstrate Language skills in the field of Arabic language and Literature.
  2. Demonstrate intellectual independence in the application of knowledge of Arabic language and literature by apply critical, analytical, evaluation skills related to Arabic language and literature studies.
  3. Manipulate a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicate meaning, as well demonstrate the ability to do research in the fields of Arabic language and literature.
  4. Produce clear well-structure, detail text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices in the field of Arabic language and literature.
  5. Express oneself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions, as well using Arabic language flexibly and effectively for social academic and professional purpose.
  6. Demonstrate skills in using a broad range information, media and technology applications to support study of Arabic language and literature.
  7. Analyse critical evaluation of linear and/or non-linear information for study and work related to Arabic language and literature study.
  8. Work autonomously and show leadership and professionalism. Also, demonstrate decision making capacities, accountabilities, and professionalism by working towards predetermined goals and outcomes.
  9. Engage effectively in self-directed lifelong learning and professional pathways related to Arabic language and literature study.
  10. Demonstrate entrepreneurial competency in selected projects related the field of Arabic Language and literature. Likewise assess aspects of socio-political, economic and cultural issues.
  11. Observe and identify ethical issues, make decision ethically and act professionally with the varied social and professional environment and practice.

 

Entry Requirements
On Campus & Online
  • A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects or its equivalent; or
  • A pass in in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid; or
  • A Diploma (Level 4, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent; or
  • Matriculation / Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent; or
  • Passed Secondary School Examination / Shahadah Thanawiyah ‘Ammah or;
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of Malaysia.

 

* Additional requirement: A credit in Arabic language at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualifications.

 

APEL.A Entry

Possess an APEL.A certificate from MQA for admission into Bachelor programmes.

 

Arabic Language Requirement

Candidates who wish to enter a program which medium of instruction is Arabic Language, must pass MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) or equivalent. Exemptions will be granted subject to the University Senate’s approval based on situations.

 

English Competency Requirement (International Student)

All international students applying to MEDIU must have a valid TOEFL or IELTS or other recognized English certificate of not more than two years old upon the registration.

  • Achieve a minimum Band 1 in MUET OR equivalent to CEFR (Low B2); or
  • 8 – 19 TOEFL: or
  • 1.0 IELTS band
